Brian J. Blackford was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School.  He graduated magna cum laude from Creighton University in 2005 as a political science major and philosophy co-major.  Brian was initiated into Creighton’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.  During his undergraduate studies, Brian was also a congressional intern in Washington, D.C. in the United States House of Representatives.  He graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 2008 with certificates of concentration in International and Comparative Law, Litigation, and Criminal Law and Procedure, becoming the first student to earn three concentrations.  While in law school, Brian was awarded a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for earning the highest grade in his Trial Practice course and he completed a conflict resolution training program with the State of Nebraska’s Office of Dispute Resolution.  

Brian has been active in immigration law since 2007.  His practice focuses on a variety of immigration cases in the areas of removal/deportation defense, asylum/refugee law, naturalization/citizenship, family-sponsored petitions, and federal court litigation.  He has been admitted to practice law before the Nebraska state courts, the United States District Court of Nebraska, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) which includes immigration courts around the country and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).  Brian has also been admitted to practice law before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit where he has successfully litigated and advocated for immigrant rights.
